How it works
What the calculator accounts for.
For business sellers it applies the eBay UK final value fee (a percentage of item + postage), 20% VAT on that fee, the 0.35% regulatory operating fee, and the per-order fee (30p up to £10, otherwise 40p). It then subtracts what you paid for the card, your postage, and packaging to show your true net.
For private sellers, eBay fees are currently £0 on most categories, so your profit is simply the sale minus your own costs. Learn more in eBay UK fees explained and how to sell Pokémon cards in the UK.
FAQ
eBay fee questions.
- Do private sellers pay eBay fees in the UK?
- As of 2026, UK private sellers pay no selling fees on most categories when an item sells. Fees can still apply for over 300 listings a month, optional listing upgrades, overseas delivery, and motors.
- How is the eBay final value fee calculated?
- For business sellers it's a category-based percentage of the total the buyer pays, item price plus postage, with 20% VAT added on the fee, a 0.35% regulatory operating fee, and a per-order fee (30p up to £10, otherwise 40p).
- Why does postage count towards the fee?
- eBay charges the final value fee on the full order total, including the postage you charge the buyer, so cheap item, dear postage doesn't dodge the fee.
